Where do the tours depart from?
All Beatrix Potter tours depart from central Windermere, very close to Windermere railway station in the southern Lake District.
How do I get to Windermere from London?
Avanti West Coast trains run from London Euston to Oxenholme Lake District, with a short connecting service to Windermere, in around two hours forty-five minutes. Book in advance for the best fares.
Can I drive to the Lake District instead?
Yes — but the Lake District has very narrow country lanes and driving on the left can be challenging for first-time visitors from the US. We'd recommend the train. If you do drive, Windermere has several car parks.
Can you pick me up from my hotel?
We can discuss hotel pick-up for private tours. Shared group tours depart from a fixed central point in Windermere.

What to Expect
How long is a Beatrix Potter tour?
Our half-day shared tours run approximately four hours. Private tours can be extended to a full day on request.
How many people are on a shared tour?
Beatrix Potter shared group tours are capped at seven guests — genuinely small, not just marketed that way.
Is Hill Top Farm entry included?
National Trust admission to Hill Top is purchased separately on arrival. Current pricing is around £12–£14 per adult. National Trust members (including reciprocal-access American conservation body members) enter free.
What's the difference between morning and afternoon tours?
The itinerary is the same. The afternoon tour offers softer photographic light and suits travelers who want their morning free for other activities.
Are the tours suitable for children?
Very much so. Families are welcome and the guides tailor storytelling to the group. The tour works well for children who know the books as well as adults visiting for the first time.

How far in advance should I book?
Advance booking is strongly recommended. Summer tours (June–September) frequently fill weeks ahead. We'd suggest booking as soon as your travel dates are confirmed.

What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellation terms are displayed clearly at the time of booking on our tours page. We'd encourage travel insurance for international visitors.
